Port Terminals

An electric winch is a lifting device that generates traction by winding steel wires or chains on a drum, enabling the vertical or horizontal movement of heavy objects. Its core value lies in providing stable and controllable traction and having precise load positioning capabilities. It is mainly responsible for core operations in ports, such as material handling, heavy object towing and dragging, large equipment installation and disassembly, and the lifting and assembly of lifting cranes.

Electric Winch Applications In Port Terminals

1. Rolling and loading of equipment onto the shore: When large equipment like port gantry cranes are unloaded from ships, multiple winches are often used for traction; for example, using 5 sets for traction and 1 set as a backup, slowly reeling in and out the steel wires to pull the equipment from the ship to the shore.

2. Overall lifting of the gantry crane: When the container gantry crane arrives at the port and is affected by the height limit of the waterway, it uses hoists to lift and reset the upper structure, with a lifting capacity of up to 1100 tons, which is the mainstream solution for current lifting projects.

3. Loading and towing of goods: Various operations such as material lifting, horizontal towing, and cable towing on the dock can all utilize hoists. The JM type slow-speed electric winch is specifically used for port and dock road and large equipment installation projects.

4. Auxiliary adjustment of equipment: For example, using an electric winch to pull the entire conveyor system, adjusting the parking position as the water level changes, and for bulk cargo handling.

Electric Winch Selection And Usage Tips

Port scenario characteristics: Large load fluctuations, long continuous operation time, humid environment with frequent salt spray; select the equipment based on heat dissipation performance, drum rope capacity, control accuracy, simple equipment structure, and easy maintenance to reduce downtime.

Drive method: Electric winches are the mainstream, while hydraulic winches are suitable for complex working conditions that require precise control and stable load.

Safety requirements: During operation, reliable anchoring and anti-slip measures must be implemented to prevent overturning. The steel wire rope should be wound from below the drum; the drum should be left with 3-4 turns of steel wire rope, and no one should cross the steel wire rope that is in operation.
